In 2018 I moved part time to a mountain top on the equator in the Andes mountains of Ecuador. Climate change, political upheaval, struggle for racial and gender equality, the return of frightening nationalism and fundamentalism are roiling…in the midst of a pandemic. Everyone I meet seems to be searching for something or trying to hide, looking for connection or solitude, sometimes both. “7 Years in 100 Pieces” is my diary in oil, pigment, charcoal, pastel, linen, paper, pen and whatever else I might fined along the way.

“I want Time and Chance to accumulate—brush strokes, colors…layers built up, stripped away. Passage of Time as witness to fallibility, to human endeavor. Let the process determine the Moment(s) of Truth or Deception. What is revealed? [What is hidden?] What is recorded? If it’s successful the voyeur will care. Just do the work.”

“If…there are no projections emanated by the mind, and if, on looking inwards, there is no projectionist who projects them by thinking, then, one’s own mind, completely free from conceptual projections, will become luminously clear.”
